I really can't tell if I dislike the title track or like it in a it's dumb but kind of cool way?? It certainly isn't that good and is a bit cringe but it has something about it. Lovelight is like if you took the good stuff about Rudebox and made it into a normal song, still on the same level but not as love to hate. Bongo Bongo is between average forgettable and good. I remember as a kid I thought the lyrics for She's Madonna was "the cheese that makes the cheddar", not relevant but I still think the song is good.
I did not care for Good Doctor at all, Keep On and The Actor are kind of the same but those two sounded alright whilst Good Doctor just didn't. Never Touch That Switch and Louise I also immediately forgot after listening. What even is We're the Pet Shop Boys, what a weird song and I don't mean weird in a cool experimental sounds different way. Just normal weird like why does this exist, it just sounds like some remix that is taped on to the end of a compilation album to pad it out.
I don't get this album at all because how do you go from something like that to Burslem Normals which sounds really nice???? Like I initially thought it was because I put the album down for a few hours but no it's just weird in how it's simultaneously bad and wow at the same time. Kiss Me is proof that it's not just me putting it down for a bit making me think it's good because Kiss Me is very forgettable and average. The 80's is a bit between the two where it's average but a tiny bit above and I prefer it to The 90's. Sumertime makes you forget the vibe of the album and then the secret track Dickhead immediately draws you back in and it's like having cold water thrown on you.
I think the title track is sort of a perfect representation of the album, it's cringe and bad yet there is something about it that I find endearing. I just don't understand how this album is so weird with it's quality. Whilst the last one was just painfully mid this album it's not that good and only redeemed by a few good tracks. Averages out to being very similar but it's juts not that good of a listen.
