This is proof they've still got it. Usually 20 years after the best album the sound of a band is so distorted or made to be far too palatable to a general audience. I think there is something about it that does make it sound newer but despite everything it's still clearly a QOTSA album. It's on the same level of Lullabies to Paralyze in my opinion, just very decent all around with a couple of tracks that I really like.
Obscenery is something I can easily listen to on repeat, love that track. Negative Space is probably my second favourite track on the album, just sounds nice and like something that would fit in with one of their older albums. Made to Parade I don't really like that much as it just sounds goofy for most of the song but I do like the ending of it so it's mostly alright. I like What the Peephole Say but it isn't quite up there. Sicily is one of those tracks that doesn't quite grip you but sounds pretty cool and the acoustic Obscenery at the end of Straight Jacket Fitting was nice.
Looking forward to whatever they put out next.
